A strong brand proposition starts with a clear voice
Get to know me
Hi, I’m Isabella Griffiths. I set up Astra Communications to support organisations at moments that matter — periods of growth, change, funding or increased public scrutiny.
I bring senior marketing and communications expertise to leadership teams who need clarity, focus and confidence in how they show up externally. That might mean defining a clearer proposition, building credibility in a new market, or ensuring communications stand up to investor, public or regulatory attention.
My work sits at the intersection of strategy, commercial drive and delivery — helping organisations say the right thing, in the right way, to the audiences that matter most.
My background
I started my career in media and journalism, and this experience still shapes how I work today. Storytelling sits at the heart of my approach; finding the human angle that helps people engage with an idea, a product or a mission. That is what builds trust and supports real progress.
I specialise in sustainability-led and climate-focused organisations, often working with pioneering technologies or innovations where marketing is as much about education as promotion, and new ideas must be explained clearly, responsibly and in ways that resonate.
I have held senior in-house leadership roles and worked across start-ups, SMEs and large enterprises, which means I understand the realities of scaling from both a strategic and operational perspective.
Because of my experience, I’m able to step in with minimal onboarding and deliver senior-level input from the outset — working flexibly, but with the same accountability and standards you would expect from a permanent role.
A few selected achievements
I built and led the marketing and communications function from inception for a £70m+ research and innovation centre, overseeing six-figure annual budgets and driving its growth into one of the world’s top three independent facilities of its kind.
Shaped brand, positioning and external narrative that underpinned £20m+ in public R&I funding and multi-million-pound commercial partnerships with global OEMs across automotive, aerospace and hydrogen sectors.
Delivered tangible increases in profile and influence, generating six-figure earned media value and sustained growth in digital visibility, stakeholder engagement and qualified commercial pipeline.
Supported early-stage and scaling organisations in sustainability and climate-tech sectors in securing seven-figure seed investment and developing investor-ready propositions aligned with revenue growth.
Regularly trusted to operate at senior leadership level in high-stakes environments where commercial judgement, reputational sensitivity and strategic alignment are critical.
What motivates me
I cut my teeth in B2B media within the fashion industry at the point when fast fashion was rapidly transforming the sector. Seeing first-hand the impact those business models had on people and the planet sparked a lasting commitment to sustainability — and to driving positive change with care, accuracy and intent.
That commitment has carried through my career. Today, I work primarily with purpose-led businesses and not-for-profits across climate tech, net zero construction and manufacturing, advanced engineering, transport and global supply chains — often in sectors where innovation sits alongside regulation, policy and public affairs, and where credibility and explanation are critical to building trust and adoption.
I’m passionate about working with those trying to move systems forward, and communicating in ways that feel responsible, human and believable.
Outside of work
Outside of work, I’m happiest spending time with my family and my gorgeous labradoodle Eddie — the best work buddy I’ve ever had. I love baking (never Bake Off–worthy in appearance, but always excellent in taste, if I say so myself), keeping fit through strength training and bootcamps, and travelling whenever I can, with Asia being a particular passion of mine.
I also support and consult for a climate charity and grassroots community action group, staying closely connected to the real-world impact of sustainability and climate action beyond boardrooms and strategy decks.
